
Dr Carly Anna Hughes
Dr Carly Hughes MBBS MA ( Cantab) FRCGP MSc was an NHS GP for 30 years with interest in women's health. She trained at Cambridge and London Universities including additional nutritional training.
She trained as Obesity specialist and ran a specialist clinic with full multidisciplinary team based in Norfolk for 10 years which won 2 national awards, and treated thousands of people. She has previously sat on the NICE CG 189 Obesity guidelines group, and worked on NICE quality standards for obesity. She is a World Obesity SCOPE National Fellow recognising her clinical and educational work.
She retired from clinical practice a year ago and is currently an active obesity researcher and educator. She works with teams at the University of Cambridge and Bristol.
She has published over 30 peer reviewed papers, and lectured both nationally and internationally. Her research interests include new models of delivering obesity care, post bariatric surgery follow-up in primary care, weight maintenance, and psychological interventions.
